Implemented and Upcoming Changes.

We're back on the Monitors! Volume 82 has just been published. A number of changes have been implemented in our Monitors, and we're excited to finally roll out a change that our dedicated subscribers are sure to have noticed already:

  1. Discontinuing Fundamental Monitors: We’ve decided to discontinue Fundamental Monitors, as we’ve struggled to maintain a structured format that ensures that they are a consistently valuable resource vis-à-vis our largely unstructured idea-generation process. Ultimately, we believe that this is for the best.

The idea of the Fundamental Monitors was to share filtered screens and watchlists of stocks that we're keeping an eye on. In reality, this has not been the best use of time, as watchlist items move in and out frequently and often in a way that can be more confusing than useful. Screens also come with too much noise, and anyone can run their own screens as and when they see fit.

  2. Introducing "OKA's Weekly Picks": Since Monitors are already a major source of our ideas, we’ve added an “OKA’s Weekly Picks” Monitor at the beginning of each volume. Through this Monitor, we highlight particularly interesting ideas from within the Monitors.

  3. Green highlights within Monitors: If you are a dedicated reader of our weekly volumes, you've probably noticed the green highlights on a number of entries. If you hadn't figured it out already, green highlights signal either a new entry or an update within an existing entry (not applicable to the Notable Earnings Surprises & Guidance Revisions or Potential/Active Short Squeezes Monitors).

  4. Introducing Alerts: Our Write-ups and Full Access subscribers will have noticed a barrage of Alerts in their inbox over the past few months. We've been testing out this new feature for some time and are finally happy to be rolling out Alerts in full.

Soon, we'll be bundling Write-ups and Alerts into one service (with two distinct pages) that will be titled, simply, "Ideas". The purpose of this change is multi-pronged:

    • It allows us to pursue and share a much higher percentage of our best, most actionable ideas. As you know, we spend a lot of time writing up these ideas. What you may not know is that we often spend so much time writing them up that we can't keep up and end up discarding far more good ideas than bad ones, simply because they often move too much to be considered actionable.

Something had to give; either we pursue fewer ideas, share fewer write-ups, or simply write less. OKAAM was launched with the goal of sharing our best ideas and establishing a track record with them. We are traders first and foremost, and, as you will have noticed, we are very active. This change reflects our decision to lean into- rather than change- our approach, and we’re bringing our subscribers along with us.

    • It also allows for more timely sharing of position changes and enables closer tracking of our performance by our subscribers. Although many of our position changes were not considered time-sensitive, many have been. With an even more active approach, sharing position changes as quickly as possible is now essential.

Write-ups are not going anywhere; we will continue to share Write-ups of ideas that are more nuanced or just don't fit in a short note or email. Alerts simply afford us more flexibility on timing and scale- many of our ideas can be covered in a couple of paragraphs or less, quite frankly!

    • As we work to grow OKAAM's subscriber base, we'll need to share more non-paywalled Write-ups. Alerts ensure that our dedicated subscribers get not only a higher volume of our best ideas (both Write-ups and Alerts), but also get them earlier, along with any position changes.

As always, suggestions and feedback are welcome, so please don't hesitate to reach out.
